So you have a website and you are not to sure if you should perform SEO or if you should employ the services of a professional SEO firm? Of course I will be bias as I am the Director of TopRankings which is a SEO consultancy based in Australia. SEO can be a rewarding experience especially if you manage the process yourself however SEO while not technically tricky can have a severe impact of your rankings. Simply put if you incorrectly apply SEO techniques you run the risk of your site being banned. Why would you want to risk of having your site banned in the attempt to save a few thousands dollars afterall your website should be generating you money not costing you money. Employing a SEO company doesn’t necessarily mean that they won’t get your website banned but if you choose the company wisely it will be an investment you won’t regret. Search Engine Optimisation techniques change on a constant basis and keeping ahead of the curve is time consuming however to ensure results it is imperative you stay in front of the technology to give your website the best chance. SEO firms shouldn’t guarantee you results, in our opinion this is unethical as guaranteeing results implies that they can manipulate the search engines. A range of Search Engines have their own internal SEO team whose sole responsibility is to make their own pages SEO compliant, if anyone could manipulate results you would expect the search engines could but since they have their own teams we know manipulating results is not possible. Before deciding on a SEO firm it is imperative you do your homework, first of check the SEO companies rankings for a range of keywords and see where they rank, also check the results they have achieved for their clients and don’t forget to ask how long it typically takes them to achieve these results. There are many false claims created by some SEO firms that are simply inaccurate, while the more pages your website has is important you can still get to #1 with a webpage that has 1 page, what is important is the content i.e. does the content on the pages match the keywords of the products/services the site is offering? Instead of trying to stuff keywords into your webpage it is wiser to make sure the webpage is written correctly and isn’t stuffed with keywords. Below we list some tips/tricks to employ on your WebPages. ??Include keywords in H1 tags ??Include keywords in Title Tags ??Include keywords in META Keywords ??Write a clear concise META Description that also includes your keywords ??Ensure that each page within your site has unique H1, Title, Meta tags ??Find keywords on webpage and create internal links to subpage pertaining to that keyword ??Include keyword on page in bold (preferably only once) Following the above tips is not everything but is a great start to make sure that your website ranks well.
