Keys To Converting More Sales

By: Mark Hall

Businesses grow on purpose lot luck or by chance. In order to maximize your profits you need to implement the principle that I will share with you. If you are already doing this think of ways that you can take it to another level. There is always room for improvement. Please let me explain.

Customers have to purchase our products or services in order for our business to grow. So each time a customer is encountered he's bombarded with sales messages. The sales agent is looking to see what he can get out the customer, namely a sale. People are on the defensive when they know someone is trying to get something from them. This is human nature.

What's wrong with this approach? Every business needs to focus on the customer, right? Yes. This is true. However, a fundamental shift in your thought process needs to occur to drastically increase your business.

All people are taught from the earliest ages that it is not right to receive something with out giving back. It is woven into our human dna. The principle is time-tested and will continue to govern our behavior. Here is a good example.

If you had a contest to amongst your friends to see who could receive the most Christmas cards in the mail at Christmas there is one thing you could do to guarantee victory. You may have guessed it. Send out as many Christmas cards as you can. There was a study conducted where a professor sent out Christmas cards to many complete strangers. He had gotten these names straight out of telephone books. His mail box was flooded with Christmas cards sent to him from complete strangers. Why? Because even though the card came from a complete stranger the recipients felt obligated to return the favor. Now how can we apply this principle to grow our business?

To get the maximum mileage out of this principle you need to ask yourself different questions. Before you approach your prospect decide what you can give them? What would make them feel special? It doesn't have to be expensive, just thoughtful. It's the simple things that help create that feeling of indebtedness.

So please don't make the mistake of trying to get something from your prospective customers before you give to them. For example, if you are in the mortgage industry why not create a free report detailing the 5 biggest mistakes to avoid while getting a mortgage. If it is well written and honest people will value the content. They will automatically hold you in higher regard and will be more likely to seek you out. This refreshing approach will serve to differentiate you from your competition. They'll be wondering why customers rave about you and your products or services.

Take some time to do some strategic thinking. Your results will depend on how you can you best apply this principle.
