We have all heard the warnings about UV rays from tanning indoors and outdoors being harmful. The number of young people being diagnosed with skin cancer continues to be on the rise. There are two main ways in which spray on tans can be applied to the body. They offer an overall tan that looks very natural. You won't have to worry about looking orange or streaking like you normally do with most of those at home tanning sprays and lotions. The first method is airbrush tanning and the second takes place in a booth.

Airbrush tanning takes longer than the booth but not all taking salons offer the booths. They are very expensive to purchase while the airbrush equipment is quite affordable. Be prepared to be in a room with a technician though when you opt for the airbrush option. It can be intimidating if you aren't comfortable with it. You have the choice of wearing nothing at all, a bra and panties, or a bathing suit. Try to wear something old though so the spray won't damage your clothing.

The spray on tanning booths are more convenient and private. You can still choose to wear something in them if you want to. Most people want to be naked in a spray on tanning both. It will resemble a shower and you just step inside of it. You can place a shower cap on if you want to but the spray won't harm your head.

When you are ready, push the button and you will get a mist of the spray. You will need to turn around and do it again go get an all over tan. After you are done, simply towel off the excess spray and you can get dressed and be on your way. The spray won't come off on your clothes after you are done. You can go back to work or anywhere you want to go for the day.

A UV free tan does require some maintenance in order to keep it looking great. You may have to schedule and appointment every three days. Other people only have to go in once every ten days. It really depends on the natural pigment of your skin and how healthy it is. You can help your UV free tan last longer by making sure you exfoliate before your session.

These types of UV free tans last anywhere from 3 days up to 10 days. It really depends on your skin type. There are some things you can do to make sure that the tan lasts as long as possible. Keep your skin moisturized and the spray will get deep into your skin. Exfoliate the morning before you go to the tanning session so that your have removed all the dead skin. You should avoid swimming and showering for at least 8 hours after your tanning session.

UV free tanning options are very convenient and more tanning salons are starting to offer them. They do cost a bit more than using a traditional tanning booth or bed, but most people find that they are well worth it. They don't want to risk getting skin cancer or burning due to their sensitive skin. You can also get a tan quickly instead of having to build it up over several sessions. In the hours after the UV free tanning session, you will notice the color of your skin continues to get darker.
