Developing a successful business is all about having a niche that you could focus all your efforts on. A niche is like an itch actually. (Well, it rhymes but that’s not the issue I’m talking about.) When you have an itch you can’t think of anything else but to scratch it to make it stop. And if it doesn’t, you’ll do everything in your power to boot it out of existence. Basically, it’s like that with your chosen niche. When you have a niche, everything you do points to that particular direction. Every step and strategy you plan on doing focuses on that particular niche. Why use niche marketing? It can be a cost-effective way for you to promote your business. Not only can you lower your printing costs, you also get to create a marketing collateral (e.g. flyers, posters, greeting card printing pieces, etc.) that would fit like a glove to your particular target market. When you identify your niche, the next task for you would be to identify your specific target group. Niche marketing can help you provide a more effective marketing campaign because you’ll be able to focus your promotional features to meet the interests and needs of your target audience. I was looking at the ads section of the newspaper just the other day when one particular item caught my eye – “We have all kinds of balls, from the smallest to the biggest. We know all about balls.” Well, that ad so caught my attention that I called their shop to see if they have every ball imaginable. And true enough, they did. From golf balls to pingpong balls, to even a giant-sized inflated exercise ball. And in different colors, too. The point I’m trying to say is this, in order for your business to be effective, you got to have a niche that you could work on. If you have a sports shop and you want to have an effective marketing campaign then focus on a particular niche that you could expand and be an expert at. Take for example this ball shop. Or if you have all kinds of dancing shoes, then been expert on that and offer every kind of shoes in your flyers, postcards, posters, and even in your greeting cards. The key here is to consider all your options and decide on the best niche that would work out for your business. You may want to alter your marketing collaterals or your logo. But the main thing to do is to go look for your niche. Everything would follow when you find your niche that you can focus on. So, have you thought of your niche lately?
