Sony PSP has become very popular worldwide for its exciting games and extended memory cards to extend your memory. If you want you can buy Sony PSP Memory Stick PRO Duo memory cards online and the price varies widely on these so you'll really want to shop around. Sony will be coming out with the 4GB PRO Duo. The price will reportedly be around $250. The PSP Memory Stick PRO Duo is one of the very few items associated with the PSP that doesn't have to be manufactured or distributed by Sony to work. The San Disk PSP Memory Stick PRO Duo is much cheaper than Sony's and works just as well. On downloads There is still so much more to the Sony PSP. There's an internet browser, a place to store your photos and now, an add-on camera is set to be released. If you aren't familiar with all the fun you can have with your Sony PSP, spend some time getting to know it. You may be surprised at what you've been missing. This is the most exciting part of the PSP. Never before have we been able to upgrade out game systems through the internet. This facet of Sony's technology is going to give obsolescence a run for its money. When you download software for the PSP, don't forget to include system updates. One such update brought the internet to the PSP. Another recent update brought the ability to the PSP to play music in another format besides MP3, meaning that's one less file format we have to convert. When you download software for the PSP you may download a free or fee-based video converter. You'll need one of these to transfer the movie files you download to an acceptable format for the PSP. You might also download a DVD ripper that will "rip" the movie files off of your DVDs; however you will still need video conversion software in order to further download these files to your PSP. DVD There's certainly more than one choice no matter which cost factor you choose. We'll go over one of each here. Sony's Media Manager, which sells for $19.95 to download the software and $29.95 for the packaged version, will transfer the video files to your PSP. However, it won't "rip" the movie off of your DVD. Meaning it won't copy the files from your DVD to your computer. Once you have "ripped" or "burned" or simply copied those files, then the Media Manager will download the DVD movie to your PSP. There is still so much more to the Sony PSP. You can also put your home videos on your PSP. What a way to show off the kids! Keep in mind however, you are actually storing all of this media on a Memory Stick Pro Duo and that is an expense that can add up. It's up to you though, you can keep only the most important video files on your PSP or you can contact Guinness and let them know where to send your trophy. On Music Once you learn how to download music to your PSP, you will have a virtual music library at your fingertips. You will need a lot of room on your memory sticks though. If you just keep your favorite music close to you this way it will be more than worth it. You may not want to copy every CD you have in the house as this could take up valuable space on the memory stick and become quite expensive. If you're into the gaming side of the PSP very much, you'll want to save your games with your progress too.
