Do You Understand The Link Between Thoughts And Actions?

By: Alan Allport

The way you feel about yourself, your self-esteem, drives your thoughts. These thoughts transform into actions. The actions that you take are the key factors in getting what you want out of life. If you are not achieving your goals, take some time and evaluate how you feel about yourself.

If you really wish to achieve your goals you need to take consistent and massive action. It is true that one of the biggest reasons that most people do not achieve their goals is because they give up on them much too early. If your self-esteem levels are high you are much more likely to be able to summon up the determination and stamina to see your plans through to a fruitful conclusion.

However, if you are constantly critical of yourself, then these feelings will lower your self-esteem. If you have low self-esteem, then it will be more difficult to take the right actions to enable you to achieve your goals. This link between thoughts and actions is what keeps you from getting started or what causes you to give up.

So, how can you conquer self-doubt and put real power into your actions? You must learn to think positively. Learn to congratulate yourself on everything you've already accomplished in life.

All of us have had some successes. You should make a list of your accomplishments and work out the action steps you took that enabled you to succeed. List the obstacles you had to overcome. Carrying out this task is a great way to build your confidence. Start a journal where you can write down your successes. This will be something you can refer back to when you need to give yourself some positive reinforcement.

The central point you must remember is that there is a definite link between your thoughts and actions. You must take control of your thoughts and direct them into channels that will be beneficial to you. Whenever any doubts creep in, pull out your journal.

Negative thoughts are your enemy, don't forget that. Every time you tell yourself 'I can't' you immediately reduce your self-esteem and confidence and put another barrier in the way to achieving your goals. That's why putting your 'wins' in a journal can be so beneficial - it gives you something tangible to help get you back on the right track when doubt begins to creep in.

Instead, tell yourself "I can". Positive thoughts bring confidence, optimism, and focused action which give you a much better chance of achieving your goals. "I can" is a great way to plant seeds in your mind for positive thoughts. The resulting high self-esteem will provide the extra edge that you need to drive away your fears and eliminate any doubt that keeps you from accomplishing your goals.
