Creating the Images That Sell Your Home

By: Aazdak Alisimo

Curb appeal is a phrase thrown around in the real estate market. What it essentially means is preparing your home in a manner that a potential buyer falls in love with it when they first see it. It is a powerful selling tool.

The concept of curb appeal has now changed. With the web revolution, the real estate market has undergone a titanic change with buyers shopping online for homes. This makes photos of home an absolutely critical issue.

With the internet revolution of the real estate market, you must have a presence online if you want to sell your home. Being online isn't enought, though. Much like a dating site, the photos you post must set your apart from the competition.

First off, you want home photos to give the impression of roominess. To do this, you need to get rid of the unnessary things in photos. If you don't use it in a day, throw it away or pack it somewhere it can't be seen.

The proper lighting for your photos is also going to be a big issue. When in doubt, add more light. People often take dark photos. This hides the details of a home and provides a depressing impression. Buyers are not interested in depression.

In some instances, natural lighting is the only way to go. If you find yourself in this situation, there are better times then not to take your pictures. Try to do it in the early evening around sunset or at the crack of dawn.

Don't limit yourself when taking photos. Shoot as many as you reasonably can and then pick the best from what you have. When posting online, post as many as the site will allow you. Fifteen should be the acceptable minimum.

The difference between good and great is almost always in the details. The same goes for making your house stand out from those for sale around you. When shooting, make sure to focus on the key details of your home.

Preparing to sell your home is a task unto itself. While creating physical curb appeal is a must, make sure you remember to focus heavily on the photos you take. They can make all the difference between getting a sale and sitting on the market forever.
